December Update

Happy Holidays! As we enter the final month of 2021, I wanted to take a moment to thank each one of you for doing your part in the battle against COVID-19. By getting vaccinated, by masking up and remaining socially distanced even when it has not been easy, you have made a big difference.  As much as I would like to get back full throttle with in-person gatherings, in an abundance of caution, I will once again hold my annual new year's levee virtually on Sunday, January 16th from noon - 2 p.m. Please email me for the link at [email protected].

COVID-19 Update While we continue to adjust to the new norm, I encourage you to get your booster when you are able.

The National Advisory Committee on Immunization (NACI) has recommended boosters for all adults at least six months after completing their primary COVID-19 vaccine series, with priority for:

> Adults living in long-term care facilities;

> Adults who received viral vector doses such as AstraZeneca (both doses) or Janssen;

> First Nations, Inuit and Metis adults;

> All frontline healthcare workers who work directly with patients;

> Adults 50 and older;

> NACI has also recommended that adults 18-49 also get their booster.

Travel  If you are planning on travelling out of the country, stay up to date on all the requirements and make sure you download the arriveCAN app. All travellers, with limited exceptions, whether entering Canada by air, land, rail or marine vessel, must use ArriveCAN. You'll need to submit your information within 72 hours before your arrival to Canada.

If you don't, you may run into problems re-entering the country and won't be eligible for the fully vaccinated traveller exemption and face other delays or fines. Also, new testing will be required by passengers arriving in Canada. With the omicron variant in circulation, the federal government announced that all incoming passengers from non-U.S. foreign destinations must get another COVID-19 test when they arrive in Canada. This new test is in addition to the pre-departure molecular test that all travellers must undergo before leaving for Canada.  To keep up to date on the requirements click HERE.

Canada's Volunteer Awards Canada’s Volunteer Awards recognize the important work that people do in our communities. The Awards bring national prominence to the contributions individuals, not-for-profit organizations, social enterprises and businesses make to their communities through volunteering. National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women Today is the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women. On this day in 1989, 14 young women were murdered at the École Polytechnique de Montréal in a tragic and senseless act of gender violence. Today and every day, we mourn the loss of these bright young souls, and commit to ending gender-based violence and creating a better Canada that is fairer, more tolerant, safer, and more equal.
